The door of opportunities is always open widely for us to develop along with DDTC. This is how I feel as a DDTC’s employee in Tax Compliance and Litigation Services Division. Through Human Resources Development Program (HRDP), a media for self-development for all DDTC’s employees, I was given a precious opportunity to attend a taxation seminar on 20 March, 2017, conducted by Wolters Kluwer in Singapore.

The theme brought up by Wolters Kluwer in this seminar was “Zero-rating of International Services: Correctly Applying Zero-rating Treatment on Services”. The topic provided me with a new insight of the policy and imposition of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Singapore, in particular the 0% tax rate imposition on international services. In addition, this seminar was absolutely interesting, as the materials were presented by a highly experienced speaker in GST namely Catherine Chiang. She has been involved in the world of GST consultancy in Singapore for more than 15 years. As a matter of fact, she has spent the last 6 years of her career in Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS).

Thus, unsurprisingly the seminar commenced well and most definitely gave me additional values in the form of new and unforgettable insight and experience. Last but not least, allow me to convey my gratitude to DDTC, as this opportunity has been special and precious to me.
